2018 Council of NPAs Meeting in Nice
The EPA National Psychiatric Societies/Associations Council meeting, held during the EPA 2018 Congress in Nice in March, continued the great success of previous years. The meeting was attended by 30 NPAs, EPA leaders and Section chairs with participants showing active participation and involvement in discussions. The meeting presented the Council of NPAs’ current activities including a wide range of actions concerning psychiatry in Europe.
The National Psychiatric Societies/Associations among others participate in working groups on important psychiatric topics, EPA Symposia organised in respective countries; they contribute in ‘InterACT’ the brand-new NPAs’ newsletter and also in various European initiatives and questionnaires. The working groups were given the possibility to meet and carry on their discussions. The new Steering Committee will continue to work along the former direction of the Council of NPAs, as well as within the EPA President’s strategic plan.

2018 Council of NPAs Meeting in Vilamoura
A thematic meeting of the EPA National Psychiatric Societies/Associations Council was held on January 2018 in Vilamoura, Portugal before the beginning of the national congress of the Portuguese Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health. The meeting’s topic was “How can EPA and NPAs co-operate to promote Psychiatry in Europe” and it was attended by EPA President, Steering Committee and NPAs. The discussions focused on the ongoing EPA-NPAs’ collaboration aiming to integrate national societies more effectively in EPA’s strategic plan and on the other hand to bring EPA closer to its national partners.
Meeting in a small group offered the opportunity to discuss in detail important topics, such as the UN reports related to mental health and their effect on the image of psychiatry, the main outcomes of the NPAs 2017 Questionnaire and the rules and procedures for organisation of EPA Symposia at NPAs national conferences.
