EPA Academia CME courses

The EPA Continuing Medical Education (CME) course programme was launched in 2002 during the 11th European Congress of Psychiatry in Stockholm and was tailored to the professionals in mental health field willing to

* access continuing medical training and international education programmes

* be informed about new scientific data and new medical techniques that are essential for their daily practice.

EPA organises Psychiatry CME Courses both during the annual European Congress of Psychiatry and under the format of EPA Itinerant CME courses along the year in collaboration with national psychiatric societies.

The EPA CME courses are 180 minute sessions that have been designed to emphasise learning experiences that actively involve participants and include an opportunity for informal exchange with the faculty.

Pedagogic materials and methods are tailored for the individual purposes of each CME course. They include modern and interactive tools such as case presentations, group discussions, visuals handouts, selected bibliography and skills practice using role play and vignette.

The content of the CME course programme is designed by the EPA Committee on education and the faculty of the EPA Academia for Excellence in European Psychiatry. There is continuous evaluation of the educational quality from different sources for each course when it is performed.
