Mission

Within the developing field of European psychiatry the Section addresses issues related to the fields of psychiatric epidemiology, social psychiatry and mental health care systems. Specifically, it aims to:

  • Promote, initiate and perform research in the areas of psychiatric epidemiology and social psychiatry;
  • Stimulate recruitment of young talents to the fields of epidemiology, social psychiatric and mental health services research;
  • Support teaching initiatives in epidemiology and social psychiatry in Europe; and
  • Contribute to the quality of psychiatric research and mental health care across Europe.

The Section organises a biennial section meeting.

2012 Joint conference of the EPA section Epidemiology and Social Psychiatry and the European Network of Schizophrenia Networks for the Study of Gene-environment Interactions (EU-GEI)

The section is preparing a joint conference with the EU-GEI, which will take place in Maastricht, Netherlands, from June 13-16, 2012. For further information, a website is online here.
