2022 Application


The EPA Summer School 2022 will take place on 29 September – 2 October 2022 in Strasbourg, France. The topic addressed over these three days of training will be “Focus on Suicidal Behaviours – One Step Beyond”.
Participants will gain theoretical knowledge about suicidal behaviour and their assessment during plenary sessions but will also have the opportunity to practice their skills on how to conduct an interview and how to set up a therapeutic alliance, to interact with other participants in lively working groups discussions and practice their skills through simulation techniques and role play scenarios.


Selected participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with world’s leading experts in the field of suicidology. Professor Emilie Olié, Professor Jorge López-Castromán and Professor Carla Gramaglia will be very pleased to share their knowledge and expertise on suicidal behaviours.

Eligible candidates must meet all the criteria set out below:

  • Be in possession of a Medical Doctor degree
  • Have at least 4 years of training/work in psychiatry
  • Be under 40 years old (on the Summer School dates)
  • Reside in a country included in the World Health Organisation Europe region (please select European Region from the drop-down list)
  • Be fluent in English
  • Intend to participate in the whole programme of the Summer School
  • Be able to spread the acquired knowledge in their own country (please provide details in the motivation paragraph of your application)

Please note that all selected participants will be required to the complete the EPA online course “Focus on Suicidal Behaviours” and provide the certificate of completion prior the event. More information will be comunicated ahead of time.

Registration fees

There are three categories of registration fees based on the list from the World Bank Country List.

  • Participants from lower-middle income countries: 150 €
  • Participants from upper-middle income countries: 250 €
  • Participants from high income countries: 300 €

The EPA will cover your meals and accommodation for the duration of the event (3 nights from 29 September to 02 October 2022).

Application process

The application process is fully internet-based. No paper application can be considered.

To apply, candidates must provide the following information as outlined below:

  • Full contact details of the applicant: full name, date of birth, nationality, phone number, email address
  • Professional details: institution name, full address
  • Letter of motivation outlining the interest of the applicant to participate in the EPA Summer School and their expectations, the capacity to disseminate information acquired at the applicant’s level (institution, region, country). The applicant must also explain his/her experience and interest in research (maximum 500 words).
  • A curriculum vitae including information on academic degrees, current position, professional experience (clinical, research, others), information on your publications, associative experience, fields of interest.
