First meeting of the Mental Health Workforces’ group
What if European associations working on mental health gathered together to discuss how best to collaborate to improve the quality of mental health care in the EU?
That’s what happened on 10 January, what a good way to start 2020!
Under a joint initiative led by the EPA and the patient organisation GAMIAN-Europe, the representatives of key European organisations working in different mental health related sectors met in Brussels to discuss the current state and future perspectives of mental health care in the EU. Participants included representatives from the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT), the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA), the European Region of the World Confederation for Physiotherapy (ER-WCPT), the European Federation of Associations of Families of People with Mental Illness (EUFAMI), the Council of Occupational Therapists for the European Countries (COTEC), the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes (UEMS) – Section of Psychiatry and the European Psychiatric Nurses (HORATIO).
This first meeting paved the way for further constructive debates on mental health across Europe, sharing good practices and developing joint initiatives.
The workforces’ group will meet again during the EPA Forum 2020, ahead of the opening of the 28th European Congress of Psychiatry, on 28 March in Madrid.
