The EPA Board Exam and the Swedish National Exam

During the Swedish Psychiatric Congress 2025 in Gothenburg on 13 March 2025, clinicians, researchers, and educators gathered to discuss key developments in contemporary psychiatry. As part of the congress, the association organised a seminar supported by the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), with a specific focus on psychiatric examinations and assessment standards.

During the event, Dr Andrew Brittlebank, Co-Chair of the European Psychiatry Examination Board, shared valuable insights into European approaches to examinations and quality assurance.

The seminar was further enriched by the participation of Dr Vivek Agarwal, Chief Examiner of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Together, they facilitated an in-depth discussion on national and international examination systems, comparability, and future directions for developing robust, fair, and competency-based assessments in psychiatry.
