In memory of Prof. Jules Angst (1926-2026)

The EPA is deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Jules Angst on 15 May 2026.

He was a brilliant psychiatrist appreciated and admired for his dedication, his constant curiosity and his encyclopedic knowledge on a wide variety of subjects.

Prof. Angst served as Chair of the Section of Epidemiology & Social Psychiatry (1992-1996) and EPA President in 1997-1998. The 9th European Congress of Psychiatry (at the time “AEP Congress”) was held under his presidency.

Prof. Angst’s contributions to the field, and to the EPA itself, will not be forgotten. The EPA extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
