Section mission

This Section's mission is to:

Promote high standards in research, training, and clinical practice in the field of brain stimulation and neuromodulation in patients with mental illnesses.

Section objectives

  1. Enhance knowledge and awareness about brain stimulation and neuromodulation for the treatment of psychiatric disorders in Europe.
  2. Promotion of public healthcare, research and training in the field of brain stimulation and neuromodulation for mental health.
  3. Development of European guidelines on the use of brain stimulation and neuromodulation in mental health.
  4. Dissemination of knowledge about brain stimulation and neuromodulation to patients, their relatives and European patients’ associations.
  5. Promotion of brain stimulation and neuromodulation in national European psychiatric societies.
  6. Foster collaboration and innovation: facilitate interdisciplinary and cross-national research collaborations and develop innovative interventions to improve clinical outcomes.
  7. To advance training and education: develop and deliver training programs for healthcare professionals at undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional development.
  8. Foster collaboration among trainees in Psychiatry and early career psychiatrist with research/clinical centers, advancing research and clinical application in (non)invasive brain stimulation.
  9. EPA Summer schools and Early Career Psychiatrists Exchange programs with research/clinical centers across Europe.
  10. To evaluate and compare practices: compare and contrast clinical services, training programs, research initiatives, and policy frameworks to identify best practices and foster standardization.
  11. To build a network of professionals: establish a community of psychiatrists, clinicians or researchers, where they can easily communicate and exchange ideas faster and more efficiently.
