Take the surveys on the future DSM

The EPA encourages all of its members to contribute to these ongoing discussions about the future of psychiatric classification by taking part in surveys focusing on two topics:

  • Transdiagnostic symptoms in the future DSM
  • Candidate biomarkers and biological factors for the future DSM

Future DSM Transdiagnostic Symptoms Repository/Survey

The Future DSM Structure and Dimensions Subcommittee is surveying the field to develop a list of Transdiagnostic Symptoms for Psychiatric Diagnosis. The Transdiagnostic Symptoms cut across diagnostic categories, appear in multiple mental disorders, and may reflect common underlying neurobiological, psychological, developmental, or environmental mechanisms that influence onset, severity, course, functional impairment, treatment response, and recovery. They are part of DSM documentation under the new DSM diagnostic model, alongside Diagnoses, Contextual Factors, and Candidate Biomarkers and Biological Factors.

Future DSM candidate biomarkers and biological factors survey

The Future DSM Candidate Biomarkers and Biological Factors Subcommittee is surveying the field to learn about potential candidate biomarkers and other biological factors involved in psychiatric disorders. We value your expertise in this area and welcome your input and suggestions.
