World Mental Health Day 2024: Prioritizing Mental Health in the Workplace

As we commemorate World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10 October 2024, it is a reminder for us all to reflect on the importance of mental health in all aspect of our life. This year’s theme, Mental Health in the Workplace, underscores the importance of creating supportive work environments where mental well-being is prioritized. The collaboration between the WHO and ILO on mental health at work exemplifies this focus.

Mental health issues affect people from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, or background. With nearly one in four people worldwide affected by mental or neurological disorders, it is key that we continue to raise awareness, combat stigma, and advocate for accessible and effective treatment for everyone.

At the EPA, we are committed to advancing mental health care in Europe and supporting the dedicated professionals working tirelessly in this field. On this day, we stand united to reinforce the message that mental health care is a fundamental human right. EPA President, Prof. Geert Dom, has shared a special letter, addressing the significance of creating supportive environments that foster mental well-being, especially in professional settings.
