EPA 40th Anniversary
On 6 December 2023, the EPA celebrated its 40th Anniversary with an event in the EU Parliament in Brussels. Under the overarching title “Psychiatry and Mental Health in Europe: What next?”, the event featured distinguished speakers, including Herman Van Rompuy (President Emeritus of the Council of the EU), Stella Kyriakides (EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety), and Natasha Azzopardi Muscat (Director of the Division of Country Health Policies and Systems, WHO Europe), as well as stakeholders active in the field of health and mental health care to discuss about the future challenges and opportunities in these areas.
MEP Alex Agius Saliba (S&D, Malta) kindly hosted the event, which was also accessible through a live online stream, attracting over 150 participants both online and on-site.
A key highlight of the 40th Anniversary celebration was the official presentation of the EPA Manifesto for the upcoming EU Elections scheduled for 6-9 June 2024. Prof. Geert Dom, the President of EPA, unveiled this important document that outlines the Association’s vision and goals for advancing mental health care in Europe.
