Psychiatric care in Slovakia: key recommendations from EPA-WPA experts
In 2021, the EPA joined an Expert group with the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), DGPPN (Germany) and OGPP (Austria) to advise on the ways in which the Slovak Psychiatric Association can support the implementation of the Ministry’s proposed improvements to the quality of mental health care in the country.
The experts analysed the challenges and opportunities of psychiatric care in Slovakia and elaborated a list of recommendations. Among these recommendations, the need for investment in more comprehensive community-based services was outlined, as well as the importance of collaboration to have a better provision of service and care.
