‘Psychiatry in the Changing World’ – the Fifth Congress of Psychiatry in Mostar

On 4-6 November the Fifth Congress of Psychiatry of Bosnia and Herzegovina took place with international participation. Entitled ‘Psychiatry in the Changing World’, the Congress was held in Mostar and welcomed 300 participants from 11 countries in a relaxed, face-to-face, atmosphere, free of COVID-19 restrictions.

This most significant psychiatric event in Bosnia-Herzegovina was organised by the Psychiatric Association of Bosnia-Herzegovina (PABH) with WPA co-sponsorship and EPA patronage. The Congress had a dynamic Scientific Programme with six plenary sessions, 35 invited lecturers who are experts in their fields, plus 35 short oral and 51 poster presentations.

The Congress was co-organised by the University of Mostar, the Clinic of Psychiatry of the University Clinical Hospital of Mostar, the Medical Chamber of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the Medical Division of the International Academy of Science and Art of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Very important international support was provided through the patronage of the European Psychiatric Association and the co-sponsorship of the World Psychiatric Association.

An EPA Plenary Symposium was held with Prof. Peter Falkai, EPA President, and Professor Eka Chkonia, Secretary of the Steering Committee of the EPA Council of NPAs. The Fifth Congress of Psychiatry of Bosnia and Herzegovina was a successful event and gave an opportunity to all participants to take home new knowledge and build new connections and friendships among colleagues from the region.
