A Successful EPA Symposium at the Conference of the College Private Psychiatry of Bulgaria

The conference of the College Private Psychiatry of Bulgaria (CPP) was held on the 12th and 13th of May 2023 in Sofia, one of the oldest cities in Europe.

The key event was a joint symposium between the EPA and CPP (Toward unification of the approach), and included the following presentations:

  • ‘Next steps toward European Psychiatry’ by Prof. Geert Dom (EPA President)
  • ‘Dissemination of the EPA Code of Ethics’ by Prof. Meryam Schouler-Ocak (Chair of the EPA Committee on Ethical Issues)
  • ‘Schizophrenia and Homicide, Own Study in Bulgaria’ by Prof. Petar Marinov (Chair of the Conference Scientific Committee)
  • ‘Trajectory of Schizophrenia, Data from own studies’ by Prof. Georgi Onchev (Member of the Conference Scientific Committee)

The event was attended by a large number of psychiatrists from all over Bulgaria, as well as colleagues from Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and England. There were round tables on involuntary treatment models in different European countries, as well as training modules on cognitive behavioural psychotherapy, neurocognitive assessment and addiction treatment. There was a high interest to the event from psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and social workers.
