Call for Expressions of Interest – EPA Operational Committees (Mandate 2027–2029)

The EPA is pleased to invite expressions of interest from EPA members wishing to join one of its Committees for a 2027–2029 mandate:

  • Committee on Education
  • Early Career Psychiatrists Committee (ECPC)
  • Committee on Ethics

Which EPA Committees are recruiting new members?

Committee on Education – 2 open positions

The Committee on Education supports excellence and innovation in psychiatric education and training. It contributes to the development of educational initiatives, learning opportunities and best practices that enhance psychiatric knowledge and skills across Europe.

Early Career Psychiatrists Committee (ECPC) – 5 open positions

The ECPC represents and supports early career psychiatrists throughout Europe. Its activities focus on professional development, networking, international collaboration, and addressing issues relevant to psychiatrists in the early stages of their careers.

 Committee on Ethics – 2 open positions

The Committee on Ethics promotes ethical reflection and guidance within psychiatric practice, research and policy. It addresses emerging ethical challenges and contributes to discussions on professional standards and responsible psychiatric care.

Eligibility

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest or experience in the Committee’s field of activity.

In accordance with the EPA Rules of Procedure, Committee members must be paid-up EPA Individual Members for the year 2027. Only EPA members who have paid their 2027 membership fee by 29 October 2026 will be eligible to apply.

Important: First-time membership applications will take several working days to be processed. Please apply for EPA membership well before the Committee application deadline, to ensure your membership is active when applications are reviewed.

No more than two members from the same country may serve on a given Committee.

Early Career Psychiatrists Committee (ECPC) – Specific criteria:

  • Please note that membership of the ECPC is only open to psychiatrists who, at the start of mandate (April 2027), are under 40 years of age and/or within five years of obtaining their specialist qualification.
  • Applicants must have at least three years of involvement in a scientific association, either as a member or in an elected or appointed position.
  • Applicants must be active members of national and/or international professional associations and/or have experience organising national or international scientific meetings.
  • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English.

Length of Mandates

Committee appointments are made for a two-year mandate (April 2027– April 2029). Members may be reappointed for up to two additional consecutive terms, for a maximum of six years of service.

Expected Commitment

Committee members are expected to actively participate in online and in-person meetings, contribute to ongoing projects through active involvement in Committee tasks and deliverables, and support Committee activities throughout the mandate. Committees typically meet in person twice per year, including one meeting held during the annual EPA Congress.

  • An updated CV;
  • A cover letter outlining their motivation for joining the Committee; relevant experience and expertise; how they wish to contribute to the Committee’s activities.

Selection Process and Timeline

Following the call for expressions of interest, applications are reviewed by the Committee Chair and Committee members, who will assess eligibility, expertise and suitability for the role. Appointments are then submitted to the EPA Board for formal approval.

All applicants will be informed of the outcome by November 2026.
